  • Will the students’ devices be insured?

    Posted by:

The district offers optional insurance for student issued devices. If a parent chooses not to take the district offered insurance, they will be responsible for repair or replacement costs if lost or damaged.

This insurance policy does not cover for loss of the Chromebook and/or its accessories, case, cosmetic damage, or damages caused by intentional misuse and abuse. PWSSD will assess the Chromebook damage and repair or replace the device if the damage is determined to be accidental and within the protection guidelines.

  • Will homeowners insurance cover the device?

    Posted by:

Each family will have to check with their personal insurance agent. Most homeowners insurance would include the device under their coverage, but the deductible level would make the claim of limited or no value. The District is working with our insurance carrier to offer accidental damage insurance at a reasonable price with no deductible on a yearly basis.

Part of personalized learning involves students attempting to problem solve. We ask that the student take the first steps to troubleshoot issues. In each classroom there will be a list of the three most common troubleshooting techniques that should be attempted before asking for help. At the middle school, students having an issue they cannot resolve will go to the library desk for assistance. At the high school, a Chrome Help Desk in the library will provide assistance. Either students or PWSSD staff will be available to assist intermittently during the day and routinely after school.
