  • How will the student devices be incorporated into a teacher’s daily classroom routine?

    Posted by:

Ultimately, the goal of the our District's Learning Initiative is to enhance student learning and engagement through the use of appropriate student technology. This does not mean, however, that a teacher will be using student devices for EVERY aspect of daily classroom routine. We will work closely with teachers to help them incorporate these digital tools into everyday learning.

  • Does this mean that students will not have textbooks?

    Posted by:
Students will have textbooks, but in some cases they may not have to take them home as often or the District may only have to purchase a classroom set rather than one for every student. While digital textbooks are beginning to become more prevalent, they are still not the norm in every classroom. The long term cost of digital textbooks looks to be comparable to that of textbooks in that digital textbook companies will charge a yearly fee for each student to subscribe to them.

  • If a student already has a device, can he/she use it rather receive a device from the District?

    Posted by:
No. The District expects students to use the District issued device during the school day. Using the same device will decrease the risk of unique issues and allow teachers to plan and prepare for what each student will see on a common device.
