  • Dennis Gephart is in his eleventh year as Director of Choral Activities and Department Chair at Port Washington High School where he directs four curricular and three extracurricular choral groups.   He also mentors two student run extracurricular vocal ensembles and is the vocal director for the high school musicals.  In addition to Mr. Gephart’s school responsibilities, he has helped develop the Port Washington-Saukville Arts Council and has served as President from 2008-2011.  He has also been the WCDA State Honors Vocal Jazz Assistant Director from 2007-2011 and has helped teach at the Wisconsin Vocal Jazz institute for the past five years.   He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from UW-Stevens Point and a Masters in Administrative Leadership from Marian University in Fond du Lac, WI.

     

    Vocal groups under the direction of Mr. Gephart have received numerous superior ratings both locally, nationally and internationally.  In 2010, the Vocal Jazz group, Limited Edition, from Port Washington High School, won the Midwest International High School A cappella semi final championships and were titled National Champions in New York City later that year.  In March of 2012 they were titled the ICHSA Midwest champions again and will travel to New York City to compete in the International Championship in April 2012.  In 2011, the group once again received high acclaim by being selected to be on the ‘Best of High School A cappella’ C/D along with 14 other outstanding high school groups from around the nation.

     

    Mr. Gephart holds professional memberships in Wisconsin State Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators, and American Choral Directors Association.  In his free time he enjoys being outdoors and is an active hunter education instructor, mentor hunting instructor, and board member for the Ozaukee/Washington Pheasants Forever chapter.
